Hikes to do in Floripa – Part 2
For the people who love an adventure, we have another spectacular hike to do in Floripa: Santinho + Moçambique!
Hike from Santinho Beach to Moçambique Beach
Difficulty level: Easy/Moderate
Located at the northern end of the island, Santinho’s Beach is famous for its white sand, crystal clear waters and the history engraved in the rocks of the coast. However, it is the path that leads to this beach that really captivates the visitor.
The trailhead, located on the right side of the beach, offers a stunning view of the sea and the rock formations that dot the coast. As we enter the Atlantic forest, we immerse ourselves in an environment of rich biodiversity, with ancient trees, bromeliads, orchids and a variety of birds that enchant with their melodious songs.
The approximately 2.5km route presents some challenges, such as steep climbs and uneven terrain, but each step is rewarded with stunning panoramic views. During the approximately 1h15min tour, it is possible to see the Santinho stone, where rock figures dating back more than 5 thousand years are engraved, a fascinating testimony of the human presence in the region.
When we arrive at Moçambique’s Beach, at the end of the trail, we are rewarded with a spectacle whose beauty is difficult to express in words. With more than 8km in length, it is the longest beach on the island and one of the best preserved. That’s where we experience true tranquility!
If you still have breath on the way back to Santinho Beach, there is a well-marked fork that can take you to another trail!
EXTRA: Morro das Aranhas Hike
Difficulty level: Moderate
The Morro das Aranhas hike holds challenges and rewards for adventurers willing to face them. Since it’s mostly uphill, the trail may scare some people, but we guarantee it’s worth all its fame! It has a well-marked route and, for the most part, giant trees that help protect you from the sun.
From its summit we are presented with an impressive panoramic view, covering the entire length of Santinho’s Beach (on one side), Moçambique’s beach (on the other one) and parts of the city, as well as allowing us to see better the Aranha’s Island, two lands that keep stories of ancient inhabitants of Floripa.
And interesting facts: The Island inspired the name of one of the most traditional band in our city, Dazaranha!
